The process usually consists of one assessment session lasting 2-3 hours. Then the report is written and a draft is sent to the attorney within 10 business days.
A final signed report on letterhead will then be sent to the attorney and client.

Sessions are conducted in a confidential office setting.
We will review the client’s life history and immigration story, and talk in depth about what they have experienced and how it has affected them.
Formal measures for anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder are used either in written or verbal format as needed.
The client determines the pace of the sessions, and breaks are taken as needed.

Assessment sessions can be conducted in English or Spanish.
The evaluation report is written in English. Any other languages will require professional interpretation services.

We use a sliding fee scale to determine the cost of the evaluation for each client based on their income (FLP) and individual circumstances.
At most the evaluation will cost $400, which is less than half of the standard market price.

Evaluations can be conducted virtually when needed.
All clients must be physically present in the state of Michigan at the time of the assessment in order to comply with Michigan mental health professional licensing requirements.

No, although many clients do find the process to be therapeutic.
The purpose of these services is to create the best written evaluation possible, and does include psycho-education for clients on any diagnoses they may receive.
If a client desires further treatment we make appropriate referrals for ongoing psychotherapy.
